  1. My stance on proposition 13 is that I would vote yes this proposition being that earthquake safety is something that is crucial in California. After looking back to the earthquakes that have occurred in the past and the earthquakes that have been occurring recently, this proposition is important to pass because it is a necessity to be and have a building that is earthquake safe for everyone that goes in the building and to protect people from earthquakes. Saying yes to this proposition also means that not only are the buildings going to be safe, but the money that is being invested into the building will not impact how much taxes need to be paid. This ends up to be beneficial to the people that are buying the renovations or building brand new buildings since they get their buildings approved for earthquakes and at the same time save themselves money on their upcoming taxes.

  2. I would vote yes for proposition 13 because I think that it is a very fair proposition. I think that because of the times we are in, people should have their properties updated so that they are safe from earthquakes. I agree with this proposition because it allows people to improve their properties with adding an addition tax on their property untill that property is sold. This would make properties and public places a lot more safe and it would not be as big of a cost. It is already required for properties to be safe from earthquakes but not all of those properties are being updated constantly. This would help owners to make updates with out having to pay all of the costs and it would make our cities and towns a lot safer.

  3. I would vote yes for thing being earthquake SAFE in regards to its general definition of having saftey issues. It is in other best interests to not be taxed heavily, etc, if they want to increase the strength of the individual infrastructures so that it can be earthquake SAFE. Safety is an issue on people's minds and I believe in the changes that this propisition can provide can be ultimately a postive thing, so that is why I would vote yes on Prop 1.

  4. If I could vote on this proposition I would vote YES! I would vote yes on this proposition because it only promotes teh health of our society, locally and the health of our structures and buildings. Voting yes on this proposition makes me feel safer and it also relieves the owner's of both private and public business the power to renovate their buildings and make them earthquake safe with only having to pay for the remodeling and not the refinanced property tax on the home. I would also say yes because with recent earthquakes that have been happening locally, nationally, and internationally and I would not like anyone to suffer because of poor building structure.

  5. I would vote YES on Prop 13 because I agree with not taxing building that are retrofitted for earthquakes. There is nothing wrong with making a building earthquake saftey. Therefore, those residents who want to retrofit their homes should not be taxed. Also, This proposition is perfect during this time because earthquakes are startting to happen more often.

  6. I voted yes on this proposition because they are making the buildings more safe for people to be around. Especially because of all the earthquakes that are happening right now. Those people who want to retrofit their homes or buildings should not be taxed because they are already putting money into reconstructing their house/building and making it safer for society.

  7. Like the majority, I would also vote yes on proposition 13. I mainly believe that there really shouldn't be a reason to tax for the safety of your home. If anything all buildings should be earthquake safe, especially now that we are experiencing various aftershocks. Those should be the heads up into getting all homes secure just in case an earthquake does strike. With that, we would take less damage and in the end profit from avoiding reconstructions.

  8. I definitely would vote yes on Proposition 13. Especially with all the earthquakes that have been occurring in California. I think having safe buildings that are earthquake proof would only limit the cost of destruction it would have had if not been earthquake proof. I also think that this proposition creates buildings that are much safer for the environment that will not affect property tax values. Property owners would not have to pay higher taxes and the government would actually be saving money if a disaster were ever to occur and to avoid that safe buildings that are earthquake proof would just help the government save money and invest in something that protects our environment and our people.

  9. I would vote yes on Proposition 13 to secure all buildings. I believe that this is a safe precuation that we should all take because at the end it could save many lives. I think this is very important since there are a lot of earthquakes that occur in California. I think that all houses should be earthquake safe with out a tax to save lives and prevent a lot of damage.

  10. i would vote yes on this propistion. aside from the fact that the act faces very little oppositoon i feel that what the act is doing will in the long run help everyone with safety. i believe that not charging taxes to property owner who implies earthquake safety features cnat go wrong. society as a whole would be safer and there would be nothing stopping a preperty owner from implimenting these safety features if there is going to be no tax until they sell it. i do wonder however if there is going to be some kind of scam that people will try to cover up using prop 13. lets say a person remodels the whole house and decides to add earthwauke safety features who would decide what part gets taxed.

  11. I would vote yes on this proposition. The reasoning for my vote is that it has become in a sense in California it has had a couple of earthquakes. I have always believed one should always better be safe than sorry. With this proposition it gives the California government to secure all buildings. This brings a lot of clarities, and also we can see that the government is trying to help the state. Even if this proposition gives a tax to the people, I would not mind because it is going to the states safety. This in the long run, will only help the citizens of the state because it will help a lot, in the houses and in the buildings of our cities.

  14. I would vote yes on Prop 13 because it is important that homes be earthquake safe. This will benefit not only the citizens, but the safety of other who live in the area. This also creates the prevention of future expensive if anything were to ever happen to a home as result to an earthquake. Lately, there have been many natural disasters and we have to plan ahead for the best. -Jerome Sanders

  15. I would vote yes on this Prop because I see no any fatal repercussions if I were to vote no. I would want my buildings to be earthquake safe and the fact that this regulation would be optional for people who would offer to pay for this new renovation. People paying for these improvements would add money to our state's already low economy through taxes as well.

  16. I think that Prop 13 should be passed because it secures the citizens in making sure that they're properites would be earthquake safe if one were to occur. Earthquakes have recently been hitting, and by having Prop 13, everyone's homes will be updated to be earthquake ready. I don't see why anyone would vote no against Prop 13. There's no harm in making sure that homes are safe from earthquakes, and the cost of this whole project isn't so expensive. So, I would vote for Prop 13.

  17. I would vote yes on Prop 13. It is a significant safety measure that could potentially save everybody from harmful earthquakes. The best thing is that it will not affect individuals financially because the money will be taken out of government tax funds. The new buildings would provide safe homes for people as well as safe work environments.

  18. I am not for the proposition. I believe the proposition is unecessary. Even if buildings are earthquake safe, a earthquake could still bring down a house, easily if strong enough. We also don't have safety for places for floods and other natural disasters. There is no point in stopping human nature.

  19. I cherish the lives of others and mine, so I would vote yes for prop 13 because I want to feel secure in all buildlings. And if this prop passes hopefully it can become an example for the whole world. To create anti-earthquake buildings.

  20. I would strongly agree with proposition 13 because even though we might not encounter so much earthquakes as other states do, its always better to be prepared for the worst. Also it would be a good way to spend the money the governement takes from us and it would benefit us. It would make me feel alot safer and other people as well.

  21. I would vote yes on Proposition 13 since being earthquake safety is essential for California. Throughout past weeks there have been several earthquakes in California. I believe that this is a fair proposition since people will not get taxed for the building upgrading until a reevaluation is done. I believe that since safety is key, there is no reason why people shouldn't upgrade the buildings and plus they will not be taxed for some time.

  22. I would absolutely vote yes on Proposition 13. To start off, people are suppose to have some kind of safety in public areas, therfore having something like this where it would be fair, since it is in regards of everyone's safety. It is also understandable that people will not worry about their property since it is being fair by limiting high taxation.

  23. I would definitely vote yes for prop. 13 because there is always room for improvement in the structures of the buildings we have in California. I think it's even better that the owner of the property won't be taxed when they are in the process of improving their property yet they get more profit when they sell the property and they wont have to worried about being taxed for the additions. This proposition is a win win situation for the property owners.
